How To Take The Bus From Liberia To Playas del Coco
Taking the local bus is the cheapest and most common option.
The bus runs from Liberia to Playas del Coco every half hour, except for Sundays when it runs slightly less frequently. You can view the schedule here.
The bus leaves from the Pulmitan de Liberia station in Liberia and you do need to purchase your ticket prior to boarding. It currently costs just under 700 colones to go from Liberia to Coco and takes approximately an hour. The bus stops many times in Coco so ask your accommodation or guide where to get off – or just get off at the last stop in front of the Super Compro.
Getting to Coco from the Liberia airport is not quite as simple as the bus does not go to the airport. Instead, you need to leave the airport and walk to the bus stop on the highway. It’s a bit of a walk with a lot of luggage but definitely worth it for those on a budget who don’t want to splurge on a taxi or shuttle.
How To Take A Taxi From Liberia To Playas del Coco
Taking a (red) taxi from Liberia or the airport to Playas del Coco is possible. However, it’s also the most expensive options. A taxi from the airport should cost $45-50 and one from Liberia will be slightly more than that. Taxis will be all over the airport waiting as well as on the streets in Liberia so you don’t need to make prior arrangements. Make sure to agree on a rate prior to getting in the car and take an authorized red taxi.
How To Take A Shuttle From Liberia To Playas Del Coco
If you like to book transportation ahead of time, look for a shuttle from the Liberia airport to Playas del Coco. Though they are similar to taxis in price, they are typically a lot more reliable and can be booked in advance. Many hotels will have shuttle services to pick up guests, as well as many tour groups. If you need to find a shuttle on your own, we highly recommend Rory’s Rides, which costs $40 in a beautiful air-conditioned van.
Our recommendation for getting from Liberia to Playas del Coco? If you’re going from the city of Liberia or arriving at the airport on a budget, just jump on the Pulmitan bus. Otherwise, to get from the Liberia airport to Coco, arrange shuttle transportation in advance.
